TITLE: Approve the Technology Service Agreement between Sarasota County and the City of North Port for the provision of host services for Police Department servers and network equipment for the Back-up Dispatch Center at an annual cost of $11,101.68, and to authorize the City Manager to execute any subsequent renewal term under the same terms and conditions.


Recommended Action

Approve the Technology Service Agreement between Sarasota County and the City of North Port for the provision of host services for Police Department servers and network equipment for the Back-up Dispatch Center at an annual cost of $11,101.68, and to authorize the City Manager to execute any subsequent renewal term under the same terms and conditions.

Background Information

The North Port Police Department must have a backup data center location. It is best and standard practice for any government or corporation to backup all data to a secondary site. The City of North Port follows this same practice with all city departments with the exception of the police department. Sarasota County's Information Technology Department provides data center housing services to regional partners; therefore, this is the only option to house Police Department data in order to be compliant with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) requirements. The FBI and FDLE CJIS set specific security requirements for data and IT hardware that are mandatory for all law enforcement agencies to comply with. City of North Port IT Department also utilizes the Sarasota County Data Center to house servers and network equipment. The North Port Police Department would be housing servers and network equipment in the same manner as the City of North Port IT department.
