City Commission Options
Option 1: Provide direction to staff regarding the City of North Port 2027 State and Federal Legislative Priorities.
• Pros: Ensures that the City of North Port's State and Federal Legislative priorities represent the priorities of the City Commission, is compiled, and approved before the start of the legislative session.
• Cons: There are no foreseeable cons for providing direction on the 2027 State and Federal Legislative priorities.
Option 2: Keep the 2026 State and Federal Legislative priorities the same for 2027.
• Pros: Materials are readily available and would only require slight revisions to align with the City’s updated branding.
• Cons: Does not include any updates that may be necessary to represent the priorities for the City of North Port in 2027.
Background Information
The City of North Port monitors State and Federal legislation throughout the year to identify funding and other opportunities to ensure that the needs of the community are met. The City Commission reviews and adopts legislative priorities in preparation for the State and Federal Legislative sessions.
The City Commission can add, delete, or modify the City's lists as it deems appropriate.
The adopted priorities will be submitted to the Sarasota County Legislative Delegation after adoption by the City Commission.
