Recommended Action

Approve the Agreement for Inspection with Whitewater West Industries Ltd. (Whitewater) to perform an inspection of the Aqualoop Slide Tower and Drop Slide at the North Port Aquatic Center in the amount of $4,200.

Background Information

Due to Hurricane Ian, the Parks & Recreation Department procured the services of a Structural Engineer to evaluate the safety of the slide tower and slides at the Aquatic Center. Upon completion of the inspection, the tower and slides were determined to be structurally safe. However, it was recommended by the Structural Engineer to have the manufacturer of the equipment perform an inspection. Whitewater, the manufacturer of the equipment, has provided an Agreement for inspection to include the following services:

Ø                     General Observations - Whitewater may observe certain conditions or issues through general observation, which, if observed, Whitewater will identify for further discussion with the City.

Ø                     Perform a visual inspection of the AP unit.

Ø                     Provide a summary report detailing the observations and recommendations.

Ø                     Provide conceptual designs for any remedial actions identified.

Ø                     Recommend and provide cost estimates for any replacement parts.

Ø                     Inspections will be performed by an advisor having experience in the maintenance of the slide tower / drop slide, according to the “Standards of Practice” based on Whitewater’s experience.

Based upon the outcome of the manufacturer’s inspection, and if needed, the Parks & Recreation Department will coordinate any recommended services.

The Agreement for Inspection with Whitewater West Industries Ltd. (Whitewater) has been reviewed by the City Attorney and is legally correct as to form.
