TITLE:                     Award Funds from the Special Event Assistance Program to San Pedro Catholic Church to Cover the Costs of City Fees and/or Resources Associated with the February 28, 2020 -- March 1, 2020, Community Festival Event.

 

 

Recommended Action

 

Consider the request made by San Pedro Catholic Church for funding assistance through the Special Event Assistance Program to cover the cost of City fees and/or resources associated with the February 28, 2020 - March 1, 2020 event.

 

Background Information

 

The Special Event Assistance Program Guidelines and application were informally adopted by City Commission on November 25, 2013 and formally adopted by Commission on September 11, 2018 by Resolution 2018-R-17. The intent of the program is to encourage cultural, educational, environmental and recreational activities in the City and to help provide recovery of costs associated with City services and resources that are needed with a special event.

 

San Pedro Catholic Church is requesting funding assistance in the amount of $2,200.00 to cover the costs of fees and/or City services associated with their Community Festival event. The event is scheduled to be held on February 28, 2020 - March 1, 2020. The estimated attendance for this event is 5,000+ per the application submitted. Based on this expected attendance and in accordance with the Special Events Assistance Program Guidelines on page 2, the applicant is eligible for funding up to $2,000.00.

Financial Impact

 

City Commission budgeted funds in account 001-0100-511-49-13 for Community Assistance in the current fiscal year’s budget in the amount of $6,000.00, of which $2,000.00 is expected to be used for this event. The current balance remaining in the Community Assistance account is $3,624.00.
