Recommended Action
Approve Contract No. 2020-40 with Bryx, Inc. for Fire Station Alerting System in the amount of $150,000.00.
Background Information
The Fire Rescue Department researched and sought out methods to improve response times as well as update the current method to alert personnel of emergency calls. The selected system incorporates turnout timers, integrated station alert lighting as well as “heart friendly” ascending volume tones. All components of the station alerting system will interface with the existing P25 compatible Motorola radio system used by Fire Rescue. The selected fire station alerting system is scalable to meet the future technology advancements put in place by the dispatching center operated by Sarasota County.
The City sought request proposals from experienced, competent and qualified respondents for the supply and installation of hardware, software, and implementation services for turnkey fire station alerting systems at various fire stations within the City:
1. Fire Station 81 - 4980 City Center Blvd., North Port, FL 34286
2. Fire Station 82 - 5650 North Port Blvd., North Port, FL 34287
3. Fire Station 83 - 3601 E. Price Blvd., North Port, FL 34288
4. Fire Station 84 - 1350 Citizens Parkway, North Port, FL 34288
5. Fire Station 85 - 1308 N. Biscayne Dr., North Port, FL 34291
6. Fire Station 86 - TBD
Request for Proposals No. 2020-40 was advertised February 4, 2020. Four responsive, responsible proposals were received on March 3, 2020. The Selection Committee evaluated and ranked proposals on July 27, 2020 and Bryx, Inc. was ranked the top ranked firm.
