BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Wal-Mart / Sam's Club stores offer Community Grants to recognized government entities including state, county, or city agency, to include law enforcement in amounts ranging from $250 - $2,500.  The grant is available annually at the beginning of each calendar year. The process is to fill out an application form and take it directly to the store closest to your entity.  The Police Department submitted a request for this grant in an attempt to receive additional funding for law enforcement tactical training gear to include tactical gloves, as well as tactical knee and elbow pads. This type of equipment is vital to ensure the protection of our employees as they undergo scenario and reality based training.  Fortunately, the Police Department was awarded and received a Community Grant from Wal-Mart in the amount of $1,000 to be used for law enforcement training gear as requested.
