Recommended Action

 

First Reading:

 

Continue Ordinance No. 2025-02 to second reading on January 28, 2025.

 

Second Reading:

 

Approve and adopt Ordinance No. 2025-02 on second reading.

 

Background Information

 

The following provides a chronological order of events regarding proposed Ordinance No. 2025-02:

 

Ø                     Recently, the Renaissance at West Villages Homeowners Association, Inc. approached the North Port Police Department expressing interest in a Traffic Enforcement Agreement to designate all City roads in Renaissance at West Villages as authorized roadways for the operation of a golf cart.

 

Ø                     January 14, 2025: During the City Commission Regular Meeting, the Commission will review and consider approval of Consent Agenda item no. 25-1750, Traffic Enforcement Agreement with Renaissance at West Villages Homeowners Association, Inc.

 

Ø                     January 14, 2025:  During the City Commission Regular Meeting, the Commission will review and consider approval of the first reading of Ordinance No. 2025-02 which amends the Code of the City of North Port, Florida, Sec. 74-151 to designate all City roads in Renaissance at West Villages as authorized roadways for the operation of a golf cart.  Please note that approval of the first reading of Ordinance No. 2025-02 is contingent upon the approval of the Traffic Enforcement Agreement with Renaissance at West Villages Homeowners Association, Inc. as referenced above.

 

Ordinance No. 2025-02 has been reviewed by the Interim City Attorney and is legally correct as to form.

 

Information for Second Reading:

 

At its regular meeting on January 14, 2025, the City Commission continued this ordinance to second reading on January 28, 2025, as presented.

 

Business Impact Statement:

 

In accordance with Florida Statute Section 166.041, a business impact estimate was prepared and posted publicly on the City’s website on January 15, 2025.

 

Notice of the proposed ordinance was published on January 17, 2025, in a newspaper of general circulation in the City of North Port.
