Background Information

Axon is known for designing solutions in public safety and developing weapons products for military, law enforcement, and civilians. It has diversified into technology products that include a line of body cameras and a cloud-based digital evidence platform.  Its software solutions help agencies manage data and streamline workflows with all the industry leading compliance, security assurances and certifications.

As the City of North Port continues to grow exponentially, so will its police department. Equipping the City’s officers with advanced technology will not only help them fight modern crime, but it will also increase the safety of the officers when they approach scenes.  Items included in this purchase are:

Drones with supporting software, licenses, training, and supplies

                     Taser10s with supplies

Body Warn Cameras with supporting software, licenses, training and supplies

                     Virtual Reality training equipment

Axon in-car cameras for new and future replacements

Under the Axon Program, all equipment will be replaced every two and one-half years. The total cost of $9,142,428.26 is payable in installments over a ten-year period. The agreement locks in pricing for years 2 through 10 and allows for the anticipated growth of 14 new police officers per year. Costs for these years are contingent upon actual growth and available funding. Subscription terms include an automatic five-year renewal at the completion of its respective term.

The Axon Agreement and quotes have been reviewed by the City Attorney and are legally correct as to form.
