Background Information

The State of Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) routinely coordinates with municipalities to replace bridges that are nearing the end of their usable life through the Local Government Deficient Bridge Program. This program provides federal funds to be used for design and construction costs of these bridges. FDOT has identified Bridge No. 175030, Inkwood Drive over Littlefield Waterway, to be a recipient project through this program.

The City will be responsible for 25% of total project costs incurred up to a project cost of $5,000,000, and 100% of project costs incurred beyond $5,000,000.

FDOT has negotiated a design cost of $568,171, of which $142,032 would be the City’s responsibility.

A separate Locally Funded Agreement will be necessary for the sharing of the construction costs.

Resolution No. 2024-R-36, the Locally Funded Agreement, and the Escrow Agreement have been reviewed by the City Attorney and are legally correct as to form.
