Recommended Action
Approval of the Society of European Stage Authors and Composers (SESAC) Music Performance License for Municipalities between SESAC, LLC and the City of North Port.
Background Information
SESAC was founded in 1930, originally as the Society of European Stage Authors and Composers and is the second oldest of the three Performing Rights Organizations in the United States. SESAC licenses the public performances of more than one million songs on behalf of its 30,000 affiliated songwriters, composers, and music publishers.
The SESAC Music Performance License for Municipalities grants authorization to the City to publicly perform, play, broadcast, or otherwise communicate music within the SESAC repertory on City property and as part of events, programs, and other City activities.
The Society of European Stage Authors and Composers (SESAC) Music Performance License for Municipalities between SESAC, LLC and the City of North Port has been reviewed by the City Attorney and is legally correct as to form.

Financial Impact
In accordance with the SESAC 2022 Fee Schedule, the SESAC Music Performance License fee is $1,669 annually for a population of 50,001 - 100,000. Due to the calendar year payment schedule, a pro-rated fee of $420 will be charged for October 2022 through December 2022, followed by the annual fee of $1669 effective January 1, 2023. Funding for the SESAC license is budgeted in FY23 under account number 001-3036-572-49-14.
