TITLE:                     Discussion and Possible Action to award funds from the Special Event Assistance Program to Cranberry Elementary PTO to cover the costs of City fees and/or resources associated with the February 1, 2020, Cranberry Cougars 5K event.

 

 

Recommended Action

 

Consider the request made by Cranberry Elementary PTO for funding assistance through the Special Event Assistance Program to cover the cost of City fees and/or resources associated with the February 1, 2020 event.

 

Background Information

 

The Special Event Assistance Program Guidelines and application were informally adopted by City Commission on November 25, 2013 and formally adopted by Commission on September 11, 2018 by Resolution 2018-R-17. The intent of the program is to encourage cultural, educational, environmental and recreational activities in the City and to help provide recovery of costs associated with City services and resources that are needed with a special event.

 

The Cranberry Elementary PTO is requesting funding assistance to cover the costs of fees and/or City services associated with their event. The event is scheduled to be held on February 1, 2020. The estimated attendance for this event is 400-500 per the application submitted. Based on this expected attendance and in accordance with the Special Events Assistance Program Guidelines on page 2, the applicant is eligible for funding up to $1,000.00. The applicant is requesting funding in the amount of $500.00 as per the submitted special event assistance program application.

Financial Impact

 

City Commission budgeted funds in account 001-0100-511-49-13 for Community Assistance in the current fiscal year’s budget in the amount of $6,000.00, of which $500.00 is expected to be used for this event.
