TITLE:                     Approve Work Assignment 2021-05 with CDM Smith, Inc. for $147,090.00, for the Myakkahatchee Creek Water Treatment Plant (MCWTP) Phase 2 Improvements.

 

 

Recommended Action

 

Approve Work Assignment 2021-05 with CDM Smith, Inc. for $147,090.00, for the Myakkahatchee Creek Water Treatment Plant (MCWTP) Phase 2 Improvements.

 

Background Information

 

In 2019, CDM Smith, Inc. completed an evaluation of the structural integrity of the surface water treatment plant including the identification of repairs and/or improvements to existing process structures needed. Upon completion of the evaluation, CDM Smith submitted a report identifying and prioritizing repairs and improvements needed throughout the plant. Because of the overall cost, Utilities budgeted to complete the necessary improvements over several years. CDM Smith provided design, bid and construction engineering services for Phase 1 of the project, which began construction in Fiscal Year 2020.

 

Phase 2 of this project will include improvements to Clearwell #1, Pump Room #1, Filter #1, the flash mixer, Clarifier #2 and the chemical feed building. In order to move forward with Phase 2, Utilities requires engineering services to prepare construction plans and specifications, assist with the bidding and selection process for construction services, provide shop drawing and request for information review during construction, prepare record drawings and provide overall project oversight.

 

To date, CDM Smith has provided all engineering services for this project. Because of their historical and institutional knowledge, Utilities recommends that Work Assignment 2021-05 - MCWTP Phase 2 Improvements be awarded to CDM Smith, Inc.
