Recommended Action

Option 1: Approve the donation of a surplus fleet asset for Project Graduation in an appropriate fashion pursuant to Chapter 2 Administration, Article VIII Procurement, Section 2-419, Disposition of City Assets and Property (d), (3) of the Code of the City of North Port, Florida.

City Commission Options

Option 1: Approve the donation of a surplus fleet assets in an appropriate fashion pursuant to Chapter 2 Administration, Article VIII Procurement, Section 2-419, Disposition of City Assets and Property (d), (3) of the Code of the City of North Port, Florida.

Pros: Supports a community-based student program by providing a needed resource to Project Graduation, while also ensuring a surplus asset continues to serve a public benefit rather than being disposed of.

Cons: The City would forgo approximately $4,500.00 in potential auction revenues that would be returned to the general fund.

Option 2: Deny the donation of a surplus fleet asset for Project Graduation.

Pros: Allows the City to dispose of the vehicle through auction and recover approximately $4,500.00 in revenue for the general fund.

Cons: The City would miss the opportunity to support the Project Graduation Program and repurpose the vehicle for community-serving use.
