TITLE: Approve the Fourth Amendment to Contract No. 2021-17 Professional Architectural and Engineering Services for the City of North Port Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Between the Schenkel & Schultz, Inc. and the City of North Port Expanding the Scope to Phase III -V for Design Development, Construction Documents, Bidding Assistance, and Construction Administration and Increasing the Agreement Fees to $408,195.00.
Recommended Action
Approve the Fourth Amendment to Contract No. 2021-17 Professional Architectural and Engineering Services for the Emergency Operations Center Between the Schenkel & Schultz, Inc., and the City of North Port expanding the scope to Phase III-V for design development, construction documents, bidding assistance, and construction administration and increasing the agreement fees by $408,195.00.
Background Information
On April 12, 2022, The City of North Port executed Contract No. 2021-17 Professional Architectural and Engineering Services with Schenkel Schultz Inc. The original contract was for architectural services, engineering, and construction administration to renovate the existing North Port Police Department Facility and design of the new Emergency Operations Center (“EOC”), 911, and Evidence Facility.
The first, second, and third amendments of this contract were approved by Commission with the following timeline.
• April 25, 2023, First Amendment - Increased the scope, time, and related fees, to include extension of programming, staff meetings, and travel; conducting environmental evaluations, and geotechnical soils investigation.
• September 12, 2023, Second Amendment - Provided services necessary to achieve advanced schematic design of the new Police/Evidence/CSU facilities, associated parking/roadways, and storm retention on approximately 10 to 12 acres; and advance schematic design of the new EOC and associated parking/roadways and storm water retention on a portion of the City Hall campus parcel.
• June 11, 2024, Third Amendment - Increased the scope related to completion of the design, permitting, and bid assistance phase of the new Police/Evidence/CSU facilities, to include site design and support facilities to the 2065 program model.
The Fourth Amendment to Contract No. 2021-17 is only for the Emergency Operations Center and increases the scope of services to include Phases III-V to include design development, construction documents, bidding assistance, and construction administration.
This item has been reviewed by the City Attorney’s Office and is legally correct as to form.
