Background Information

The Building Division has budgeted for contracted services in the Fiscal Year 2021-2022 for plan review and inspection services, but not for administrative processing. The numbers for permits processed this year have far exceeded previous years. In the month of February, administrative staff processed over 1,800 permit applications. The Planning and Zoning Division development submittals have increased 54% over the last year and are projected to double again by the end of this fiscal year.

To maintain the current level of service and process applications timely, the Building Division is requesting an additional Development Technician to help manage the additional workload.

As this position would have an anticipated start date of July 1, 2022, the amount requested for Fiscal Year 2022 is $14,350. The full cost for salary and benefits in the Fiscal Year 2023 budget will be $57,350.

Resolution No. 2022-R-21 has been reviewed by the City Attorney and is legally correct as to form.
