Recommended Action
Approve the acceptance of The Harry Shapiro Charitable Foundation Grant in the amount of $25,000 for items to be purchased at the discretion of the Chief of Police and authorize the City Manager or the Mayor, as applicable under the City Charter, to execute all funding documents after legal review.
Background Information
The Harry Shapiro Charitable Foundation would like to donate $25,000 to the North Port Police Department to be utilized to purchase items at the discretion of the Chief of Police.
Members of the Harry Shapiro Charitable Foundation advised North Port Police Department of their desire to provide the Police Department unrestricted funds in the amount of $25,000. The grant money is to be used at the discretion of the Chief of Police, allowing unbudgeted items to be purchased when the need arises. These grant funds will allow the North Port Police Department to continue building relationships and unity within the community.
Funds will be disbursed by the granting agency directly to the City for use by the Police Department.

Financial Impact
No matching funds are required for this grant. Once received, the $25,000 in grant funds will be credited to account number 001-0000-366.52-00. Expense accounts for this grant are expected to be: 001-2100-521.47-00, 001-2100-521.52-00, and 001-2100-521.52-50.
