Recommended Action

Approve Work Assignment No. 2023-09PW with Plunkett Raysich Architects, LLP in the amount of $196,190.00, for Professional Architectural Services - Continuing Services Contract No. 2023-16.03 for the Department of Public Works Road and Drainage Division Operations building.

Background Information

The North Port Department of Public Works Road and Drainage Operations Building is the original building that was built in the 1990s. It served as a maintenance garage for the Department of Public Works and later was fitted for office space, restrooms, a small kitchen, and covered storage and work area. In 2022, Hurricane Ian caused significant damaged to the building deeming it uninhabitable, therefore staff were temporarily relocated to temporary office trailers. The amount of the damage exceeds the 50% rule governing repair to the building.

The City seeks to demolish the building, optimize parking in its place and build a pole barn type building for Road and Drainage District staff use.

Work Assignment 2023-09PW is issued through the Professional Architectural Services continuing Contract 2023-16.03 between the City of North Port, Florida, and Plunkett Raysich Architects, LLP. (PRA) to provide professional architectural services to design, permit, provide bidding assistance, and provide construction phase services, for the demolition and removal of the former Department of Public Works Road and Drainage Division Operations building.  PRA will be tasked with reviewing the site for optimal vehicle circulation, parking and design/permitting of a new covered area for staging.

Staff will continue to utilize the temporary office space until the completion of Public Works Phase II.
