TITLE:                     Approve the InSite - Florida Intelligence System Agency Agreement to Allow Authorized Users to Exchange Criminal Intelligence Information Through the Florida Intelligence System at no Cost to the City of North Port, Florida. 

 

 

Recommended Action

 

Approve the InSite - Florida Intelligence System Agency Agreement to allow authorized users to exchange criminal intelligence information through the Florida Intelligence System at no cost to the City of North Port, Florida.

 

Background Information

 

The InSite - Florida Intelligence Site (InSite) is an application located on the Criminal Justice Network maintained by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).  It serves Federal, State, and local law enforcement agencies by providing a secured computerized database of active criminal intelligence and investigative information to authorized users across the State. The main goal of the system is to improve the effectiveness of criminal investigations on all levels and to provide for the exchange of intelligence information between law enforcement agencies.

 

This Agreement will allow authorized users of the North Port Police Department (NPPD) to share information on many different types of cases including, criminal street gangs; major drug crime; domestic security; violent crime, and major economic crime.  Use of this system will further assist the NPPD in achieving the goals of public safety and security in the City of North Port.

 

This Agreement will remain in full force and effect unless terminated for violation of its terms or conditions, or written notice is provided by the City of North Port, Florida, on behalf of the NPPD, to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. 

 

The InSite - Florida Intelligence System Agency Agreement, and related documents have been reviewed by the City Attorney and are legally correct as to form.
