Background Information

The Trick or Treat at City Center event was held on October 24, 2025, on the Front Green and surrounding City Center campus. This signature event, presented by Suncoast Credit Union, was a huge success with thousands of attendees, 45 pumpkin trail partners and 10 sponsors. As in past years, a sensory friendly experience kicked off the event at 4:30 p.m. and the main event took place from 5:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.

To assist the Parks & Recreation Department in delivering this event to the community, City employees volunteer their time to make costumes, build props and decorate displays. In keeping with tradition, a friendly competition revolving around the themes, décor and costumes was held with the public voting for the People’s Choice. The Departments/Divisions that participated and their respective themes were as follows:

Ø                     Parks & Recreation Department: Toy Story

Ø                     Public Works Department: Groovy 70’s

Ø                     Police Department:  Grimes Fairytales

Ø                     Human Resources Department and City Clerk’s Office:  Inside Out

Ø                     Fire Department:  Superheroes

After tallying the votes, the Toy Story theme, created and led by the Parks & Recreation Ignite Team, earned 717 public votes to win this year’s competition. The team spearheaded the concept and booth design, while Parks & Recreation Department staff assisted with creating props and dressing as themed characters throughout the night. The People’s Choice trophy has been updated to reflect the winning Department and will be on display until next year’s event.

The Parks & Recreation Department appreciates the collaborative efforts of all City employees and officials in delivering this unique, quality of life activity to the community.
