TITLE: Approve the Municipal Election Agreement Between the City of North Port and the Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections for the May 13, 2025, City of North Port Special Election.
Recommended Action
Approve the Municipal Election Agreement between the City of North Port and the Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections for the May 13, 2025, City of North Port special election.
Background Information
The City of North Port will hold a special election on May 13, 2025, to propose several referendum questions.
A deposit of $10,000 will be payable to the Supervisor of Elections upon approval of the Agreement to compensate for election expenses, with any costs incurred above the deposit amount to be billed in a final statement to the City. Costs associated with the conduct of this Election, to include but not be limited to, are printing of official ballots that will be used exclusively in the Municipality; vote-by-mail ballot mailing, postage and materials; sample ballot printing, postage and materials; election board and early voting personnel; precinct registers; expenses incurred due to a required recount per Florida Statute, and transportation of voting equipment and election-related supplies. The Supervisor of Elections has provided a cost estimate of $131,217.08 for this special election.
The Municipal Election Agreement between the City of North Port and the Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections for the May 13, 2025, City of North Port special election has been reviewed by the Interim City Attorney and is legally correct as to form.

A deposit of $10,000.00 will be paid from account no. 001-0300-512-49.15 to the Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections upon approval, with remaining costs to be billed in a final statement to the City.
Procurement
This Agreement is exempt from competitive procurement per Sec. 2-403(a)(2) of the City of North Port Code as it is a procurement contract between the City and another government.
