Background Information
The Department of Public Works received routine bridge inspections from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) which identified several deficiencies with Bridge No. 175000 carrying North Port Boulevard over the Cocoplum Waterway including. This rehabilitation project seeks to remedy those deficiencies and extend the overall life expectancy of the structure. The scope of work consists of concrete spall and crack repair, pretension strand repair, reconstruction of bridge approach slabs, joint replacement, milling and resurfacing of bridge deck, and other incidental tasks.
The bridge’s location within a low to moderate income (LMI) zone allowed the City to receive grant funding from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for use on the rehabilitation project. The grant amount is $106,000, with $10,000 of that being retained by the County, resulting in $96,000 remaining for use of the project.
