Recommended Action

Approve the utilization of Clay County RFP 18/19-2, Various Equipment and Amenities for Parks and Playgrounds, with Musco Sports Lighting, LLC., for the competitive purchase of field lighting for Field One and Field Two at Butler Park; in an estimated amount of $382,500.

Background Information

Through the FY19/20 adopted Capital Improvement Program, Commission approved project #P20BRL in the amount of $475,000 for the purpose of lighting Field One and Field Two at Butler Park. Staff recommends lighting these fields using the same field lighting equipment and system as currently in place on Fields Three and Four at Butler Park. This will allow the new lighting to easily integrate into the existing system at this park.

By lighting these two additional fields, all four fields will be available after sunset to accommodate athletic programming and activities to support a more flexible scheduling opportunity for league games and practices. Upon approval, staff will coordinate the purchase and installation of the field lighting and communicate with local user groups and Sarasota County staff to ensure minimal impact to scheduled usage.

The Musco Sports Lighting LLC. specified for purchase uses LED technology which reduces light glare and spill as well as energy consumption, resulting in lower operating costs.
