Recommended Action
Approve the Amended and Restated Interlocal Agreement for Community Development Block Grant Program with Sarasota County.
Background Information
At the May 24, 2022 Regular Commission Meeting, Commission approved the Interlocal Agreement for Community Development Block Grant Program with Sarasota County for fiscal years 2023, 2024, and 2025. This agreement allows Sarasota County to administer and oversee Community Development Block Grant program funds, other U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development funds, and related state funds on behalf of the City.
On July 21, 2022, City staff received an urgent request from the County stating that an amended and reinstated agreement is required prior to the middle of August. Failure to amend the agreement may jeopardize funding. The changes to the original agreement are highlighted in the attached document, “Highlighted Changes to the Interlocal Agreement.” The changes incorporate additional federal language, scrivener’s errors, and clarified conditions. During legal review, the title of the document was changed, and a paragraph was added on the top of page two. These changes are not captured on the Highlighted Changes document.
The City Attorney has reviewed the Agreement for legal form and correctness.
