Background Information
The Solid Waste District offers a Walk Up collection service for persons with physical disabilities who are unable to place their containers at the identified pick up location. For patrons that register for this service and provide appropriate documentation, staff will walk up to the residence to pick up the containers at no additional charge to the resident. Upon review, the Solid Waste Division identified the need to update the program and associated registration form to clarify that the service includes recycling and yard waste and to outline registration requirements. These updates require an amendment to the current code to support change to the Walk Up service offered by the Solid Waste Division.
The City Attorney has reviewed Ordinance No. 2023-09 as to form and correctness.
Information for Second Reading
At the April 25, 2023, Commission meeting, Commission directed staff to change the word “may” to “must” in line 11. This change has been made and the updated ordinance has been reviewed and approved by the City Attorney as to form and correctness.
Additionally, the Solid Waste Walk Up Form has been updated to correct a scrivener’s error as discussed during first reading.
