TITLE: Approve the Interlocal Agreement for Commercial Driver License Training Between the Charlotte County Public Schools and the City of North Port, Florida.
Recommended Action
Approve the Interlocal Agreement for Commercial Driver License Training between the Charlotte County Public Schools and the City of North Port, Florida.
Background Information
The Departments of Human Resources and Public Works staff met with representatives of Charlotte County Public Schools on May 10, 2023, to discuss the following:
Ø Training, including testing, for employees required to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
Ø CDL classes to serve as a training tool for employee development.
The Charlotte County Public Schools District has extensive experience and expertise in providing Class A, B and C CDL Entry Level Driver Training and the Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV) CDL testing to its employees through their Transportation Operations Department. They are registered in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Training Provider Registry (TPR) as an authorized CDL training and State FLHSMV CDL testing site. The cost of the training is approximately $1,750 per employee inclusive of initial testing. As such, the Human Resources Department recommends approval of the attached the Interlocal Agreement for Commercial Driver License Training between the Charlotte County Public Schools and the City of North Port, Florida.
The Interlocal Agreement for Commercial Driver License Training between the Charlotte County Public Schools and the City of North Port, Florida, has been reviewed by the City Attorney and is legally correct as to form.

$1,750 per employee, inclusive of initial testing, which will be funded by the employee’s respective Department’s budget.
Procurement
This Interlocal Agreement is in accordance with Chapter 2 Administration, Article VIII Procurement, Section. 2-403-Exemptions (a) (2) Procurement contracts between City and nonprofit organizations, other governments, or other public entities in accordance with of the City of North Port Procurement Code.
Applicable forms will be submitted to Procurement for review and approval on as needed basis.
