Background Information
On October 5, 2024, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis issued Executive Order Number 24-214, declaring a state of emergency for 35 counties, including Sarasota County due to Tropical Storm Milton, which became Hurricane Milton. On October 6, 2024, Governor DeSantis issued Executive Order Number 24-215, amending Executive Order Number 24-214 and expanding the state of emergency to 16 additional counties.
Hurricane Milton damaged traffic signals at the intersection of Preto Boulevard and US-41 deeming the transportation system in emergency/exigency need for repairs. The City entered into Purchase Order No. 51353 and Contract attachments with B & E Signal and Lighting, Inc. for transportation system repairs in the amount of $9,900.
The traffic signals at the Preto Boulevard and US-41 intersection are scheduled to be repaired and the Department of Public works is seeking Commission approval of the FEMA provisions to include in Purchase Order No. 51353 to ensure this work is FEMA reimbursable.
