Recommended Action
Approval of Contract No. 2018-34 between the City of North Port and U.S. Water Services Corporation for the construction of the 2017 Lift Station Rehabilitation project in the amount of $ 945,164.79 plus a 5% contingency in the amount of $ 47,258.24, for a total amount of $ 992,423.03.
Background Information
The 2017 Lift Station Rehabilitation project includes removal and replacement of piping, fittings and valves, cleaning and lining of wetwells, installation of new pumps and panels, upgrading of electrical service from single phase to three phase power and installation of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems to monitor station operations. Some stations will include only certain parts of the referenced work. These stations are critical to maintaining the integrity of the City’s wastewater collection system. These rehabilitations will ensure that the stations are maintained to industry standards and are ready to meet their mission for the future.
The Lift Station Rehabilitation Project was advertised on January 9, 2018. A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting was held on January 19, 2018 at City Hall. Four bids were received, opened, and read on February 9, 2018 at 2:00pm. U.S. Water Services Corporation was the lowest, responsive, and responsible bidder with a bid of $ 945,164.79.
Staff reviewed the bids and the Engineer of Record for the project checked references for U.S. Water Services Corporation. The contractor has been determined to be qualified for the project by our Engineer of Record.
This project is partially funded by The State of Florida, General Appropriations Act. The grant amount awarded to North Port Utilities is $ 272,000.00.
Based on successful reference checks, the Utilities Department recommends award of Contract 2018-34 to U.S. Water Services Corporation in the amount of $ 945,164.79 plus a 5% contingency amount of
$ 47,258.24, for a total amount of $ 992,423.03.
