Background Information

The HIDTA Program, created by the U.S. Congress through the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1988, is a grant that provides assistance to Federal, State, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies operating in areas determined to be critical drug-trafficking regions of the United States. The HIDTA Program's mission is “to enhance and coordinate America’s drug-control efforts among local, state and federal law enforcement agencies to eliminate or reduce drug trafficking and its harmful consequences in critical regions of the United States.”  At the local level, the HIDTAs are directed and guided by Executive Boards composed of an equal number of Federal and non-Federal (state, local, and tribal) law enforcement leaders.

On March 6, 2023, the Executive Office of the President, Office of National Drug Control Policy, awarded a grant to Bradenton Police Department (BPD) for the HIDTA Program for a period of two (2) years, beginning January 1, 2023. The North Port Police Department (NPPD), as a member of Central Florida HIDTA, acknowledges the obligations of participation in the program. The BPD, as a fiduciary of Central Florida HIDTA, desires to reimburse the NPPD for its work to support the activities, programs, and projects of Central Florida HIDTA.

The Bradenton Police Department Subrecipient Agreement for the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas Program (HIDTA) has been reviewed by the City Attorney and is legally correct as to form.
