TITLE: Approve the Asset Disposition dated April 2019, in accordance with Chapter 2, Article VII, Section 2-419, (d), (1), (2) and (3), City of North Port Administrative Code and Florida Statute 274.06
Recommended Action
Approve the Asset Disposition dated April 2019 in accordance with Chapter 2, Article VII, Section 2-419, (d), (1), (2) and (3), City of North Port Administrative Code and Florida Statute 274.06.
Background Information
City staff have critiqued the City’s equipment and vehicle fleet and have prepared the Asset Disposition and Recommended Method April 2019. The Fire Rescue District and Police Department both reviewed the list of vehicles being considered for disposal and determined they do not need the vehicles for training purposes.
In addition, the Fleet Management Division of the Department of Public Works and the Police Department have identified two (2) vehicles for donation, one (1) to the North Port High School for Project Graduation and one (1) to the Suncoast Technical College Law Enforcement Academy:
CID 70520 Ford 2005 F-150 - Project Graduation
CID 70354 Ford 2003 F-150 - Suncoast Technical College Law Enforcement Academy
In the event CID 70520 cannot be donated due to unforeseen circumstances, the Fleet Management Division will donate CID 70354 to the North Port High School for Project Graduation and CID 70520 will be sold at auction.
The City’s equipment and vehicle fleet included in the Asset Disposition and Recommended Method April 2019 comply with the following:
1. Ordinance No. 06-29, Amending Chapter 2, Article VII, Procurement Sections 2-402 through 2-417 and adding Section 2-418.
2. Chapter 2, Administration, Article VII, Procurement, Section 2-419, Disposition of City assets and property, (d), (1), (2) and (3), City of North Port Administrative Code which states:
(d) [When commission approval required.] Assets with an original purchase value greater than the threshold limit set forth in F.S. § 274.06, must receive city commission approval for disposal and may then be disposed of in the following fashion:
(1) Sold . Surplus assets determined to have no useful purpose for the city or other public entities yet still having some intrinsic value may be held for inclusion in an auction or other city sale, such as closed bidding.
(2) Discarded . Surplus assets determined to have no useful purpose and no value for the city or any other entity may be discarded in the trash.
(3) Donated. Surplus assets determined to have no useful purpose for the city yet still containing some intrinsic value may be donated by the city commission to a nonprofit agency or governmental agency.
