Recommended Action

 

Approve the application to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America Project Lifesaver International Grant in the amount of $6,000 for additional program equipment and supplies and authorize the City Manager or the Mayor, as applicable under the City Charter, to execute all funding documents after legal review, should the grant be awarded to the City.

 

Background Information

 

The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America Project Lifesaver International Grant Program helps fund wandering prevention programs and other public safety initiatives designed to protect individuals living with dementia-related illnesses such as Alzheimer’s disease.

 

The Police Department will use funding from the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America Project Lifesaver Grant to expand the current Project Lifesaver Program in North Port through obtaining additional equipment and supplies.  The City expects to receive $6,000.  No matching funds are required for this grant.

 

Funds will be provided from the granting agency for implementation of this project upon award notification. The grant application was submitted November 17, 2022.  Notification of award is expected winter 2023.

 

If awarded, the City Attorney will review the Application to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America Project Lifesaver International Grant to determine if it is legally correct as to form.
