Background Information

The Department of Public Works requires specialized equipment and installation services to prepare emergency vehicles for operational use. These services may include emergency lighting, sirens, communications equipment, consoles, storage systems, electrical components, graphics, and other related equipment authorized under the contract.

The Sheriff of Broward County, Florida competitively solicited and awarded this agreement to the Shyft Group Upfit Services, Inc, DBA Strobes-R-Us. The agreement permits eligible governmental entities to utilize its awarded pricing, terms, and conditions through a cooperative purchasing arrangement.

Public Works staff have reviewed the agreement’s scope, pricing, and terms and determined that it meets the City’s operational requirements and is eligible for cooperative utilization. Utilizing the agreement will provide an additional procurement resource for emergency vehicle upfitting while reducing the time and administrative effort associated with conducting a separate City solicitation.

Purchases will be made on an as-needed basis following confirmation of available appropriated funding. Approval does not guarantee expenditures to the vendor or obligate the City to expend the full annual not-to-exceed amount.

Sheriff of Broward County, Florida Agreement with the Shyft Group Upfit Services, Inc. has been reviewed by the City Attorney’s Office and is legally correct as to form.
