Recommended Action

 

Approve Contract No. 2024-07 for professional architectural and engineering services with Geosyntec Consulting, Inc., in the amount of $814,630.00 for Project SW22TS Solid Waste Transfer Station.

                     

Background Information


During the Solid Waste District Governing Body Meeting held on November 23, 2021, the Commission approved the following motions:

 

Ø                     A motion was made direct the City Manager to proceed with a Waste Transfer Station at the property currently owned by the Solid Waste District.

 

Ø                     A motion was made to direct staff to proceed with a clean floor new technology with compaction type of transfer station.

 

Staff from the Department of Public Works coordinated with staff from the Purchasing Division to develop and advertise Request for Proposal (RFP) No. 2024-07 seeking a qualified firm to produce technical specifications and design documents needed for the construction of the transfer station facility.  RFP No. 2024-07 was opened on January 12, 2024. Two bidders, Kimley-Horn and Geosyntec Consulting, Inc., responded. Geosyntec Consulting, Inc., was the top ranked and most qualified proposer meeting the overall specifications of the City of North Port.

 

Work shall commence on, or immediately following, the issuance of the Notice to Proceed. Upon completion of the design and pre-construction phase, the City seek to enter in construction phase with a guaranteed maximum price.

 

Contract No. 2024-07 has been reviewed by the City Attorney and is legally correct as to form.

Financial Impact

 

Funding in the amount of $814,630.00 is budgeted in the Solid Waste District FY 2025 budget in account number 156-3032-534.62-00, Project SW22TS, Buildings.

 

Procurement

 

Solid Waste Transfer Station Professional Architectural and Engineering Services Contract No. 2024-07 was procured pursuant Chapter 2 Administration, Article VIII Procurement, Section 2-406 Professional services selection under Consultants’ Competitive Negotiation Act (CCNA), F.S. § 287.055 of the Code of the City of North Port, Florida.
