TITLE:                     Approve the Agreement Between Florida Gulf Coast University Board of Trustees and City of North Port, Florida, for Training for Constructive Communication for the Commission and Charter Officers and Authorize the Use of Funds From Commission Contingency Account in the Amount of $7,020.00 for Said Training.

 

 

Recommended Action

 

Approve the Agreement between Florida Gulf Coast University Board of Trustees and City of North Port, Florida, for Training for Constructive Communication for the Commission and Charter Officers and authorize the use of the Commission Contingency Account in the amount of $7,020.00 for said training.

 

Background Information

 

During the City Commission Regular Meeting held on December 13, 2022, the Commission directed the City Manager to schedule a conflict resolution session with an experienced conflict resolution facilitator to include all Commissioners and Charter Officers. The City Manager worked with the Human Resources Director and have contacted the Southwest Florida Leadership Institute of Florida Gulf Coast University to conduct a one-day session on Constructive Communication. 

 

Florida Gulf Coast University requires the Agreement for Training for Constructive Communication between Florida Gulf Coast University Board of Trustees and City of North Port, Florida be signed prior to scheduling the session. 

 

The Agreement between Florida Gulf Coast University Board of Trustees and City of North Port, Florida, for Training for Constructive Communication for the Commission and Charter Officers has been reviewed by the City Attorney and is legally correct as to form.

 

Since these services were not budgeted in the Fiscal Year 2023 budget, the City Manager is requesting authorization to utilize funding from the Commission Contingency Account for this purpose.

Financial Impact

 

These services were not budgeted for in the Fiscal Year 2022-2023 budget.  The amount of $7,020.00 will be transferred from the Commission Contingency Account to account number 001-0100-511-3105 to pay for this conflict resolution session.

 

Procurement

 

These services are being procured under Code of the City of North Port, Section 2-403 - Exemptions (a) (2) Procurement of contracts between the city and nonprofit organizations, other governments or other public entities, (3) m. Procurement of:  Academic program reviews or lectures by individuals.
