TITLE: Approve the Agreement for Director of Emergency Medical Service Systems Between Global EMS, LLC and the City of North Port to Provide Medical Direction Services to North Port Fire Rescue in the Amount of $46,400 for Year 1, $47,800 in Year 2, and $49,200 in Year 3.
Recommended Action
Approve the Agreement for Director of Emergency Medical Service Systems between Global EMS, LLC and the City of North Port to provide medical direction services to North Port Fire Rescue in the amount of $46,400 for year 1, $47,800 in year 2, and $49,200 in year 3.
Background Information
Chapter 401 of the Florida State Statutes and Florida Administrative Code Chapter 64-J requires the appointment of a licensed physician as Medical Director for emergency medical service systems. Services provided will include development of medically correct standing orders and protocols; responsibility for performance of paramedics and emergency medical technicians; and approve continuing education for recertification of staff.
The existing Agreement with Global EMS, LLC was entered into in 2018 and will expire on September 30, 2023. The proposed Agreement with Global EMS, LLC is for an initial period of three years with two automatic renewal periods of one year each with 3% annual increases.
The Agreement for Director of Emergency Medical Service Systems between Global EMS, LLC and the City of North Port has been reviewed by the City Attorney and is legally correct as to form.

Procurement
Procurement will be made in accordance with of the City of North Port Procurement Code for Exempt Purchase through Section 2-403 (a)(2)(g) Medical, dental, and other medically related services provided by a heath care professional.
