TITLE: Discussion And Possible Action Regarding Participation In Sarasota County Centennial Celebration.
Recommended Action
Discussion and Possible Action Regarding Participation in Sarasota County Centennial Celebration.
Background Information
A presentation from a Centennial Celebration Steering Committee representative was provided to the Historic and Cultural Advisory Board during their Regular Meeting held on January 14, 2021. The representative gave an update on the Steering Committee’s plans for the Centennial Celebration and how their plans have changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Participation from “partner” organizations is encouraged, and the Centennial Steering Committee has over 80 partners. A group, organization, or local government just needs to hold one event or create one related item to be considered a partner.
Ideas including an audio tour of a North Port historic landmark; updating oral histories; and creating a video were discussed. The Board came to a consensus that creating a video featuring photos of North Port landmarks with audio explanations would be the best way to contribute to the County’s Centennial Celebration. Joan Morgan, Historic and Cultural Advisory Board Chair, will be present to give more information and answer questions.
