Background Information

During the City Commission Regular Meeting held on November 8, 2022, the Commission approved Contract No. 2022-35 for the Construction of the Marina Park Restrooms With C & T Contracting Services, LLC in the Amount of $187,770, Plus a Construction Contingency of $7,460, for an Estimated Construction Amount of $195,230.  The scope of services for this Contract will include the construction of an American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant, prefabricated concrete restroom, and related site improvements at Marina Park. Water, sewer, and power are available; connections to which will be the responsibility of the Contractor.

Upon application for the building permit for the Marina Park Restrooms, the Project Manager was informed that a fire suppression system and changes to the building elevation are required as part of the construction of the restroom building. The Marina Park restroom, being a non-combustible, concrete structure, was not originally designed to include a sprinkler system, however, it has been determined the building must meet the provisions of the Unified Land Development Code, Chapter 60, Fire Safety Regulations, Section 60-5. This section requires that all commercial structures erected in the City shall be designed and constructed with a complete fire sprinkler system in accordance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 13, Standard for Installation of Fire Sprinkler Systems. Additionally, due to upcoming changes to the flood plain maps, the building elevation must be raised.

The First Amendment to Construction Contract No. 2022-35 for the Construction of the Marina Park Restrooms with C & T Contracting Services, LLC has been reviewed by the City Attorney and is legally correct as to form.
