TITLE:                     Approve the Tenant Lease Agreement with Awaken Church for Space at the Community Education Center

Recommended Action

Approve the Community Education Center (CEC) Tenant Lease Agreement with Awaken Church for space at the Community Education Center.

Background Information

Awaken Church, a local not for profit organization, has requested to lease available space at the Community Education Center. They have plans to house a food pantry/outreach and distribution location at the CEC to assist North Port residents.

Commencing on the date of the last party to ratify and approve the Agreement (“Effective Date”), the term of this Agreement will be one (1) year (“Initial Term”). After the Initial Term, unless otherwise terminated, this Agreement will automatically renew from year-to-year thereafter, provided that in no event will this lease renew for more than four (4) consecutive terms.

Rent will be calculated in the amount of two-hundred dollars ($200.00) per month.

Awaken Church was established in 2013 and has grown from a team of 40 to now 600 people. The vision Awaken Church has is to be hands on in the North Port community and show residents generosity, authenticity, and compassion. Establishing a food pantry/outreach and distribution location at the CEC will be a great way for Awaken Church to grow their vision as well as provide additional services to North Port residents.

The Tenant Lease Agreement with Awaken Church for space at the Community Education Center has been reviewed by the City Attorney and is legally correct as to form.
