TITLE: Fire Rescue Panasonic Mobile Desktop Terminal (MDT) purchase in the amount of $136,661.25.
Recommended Action
Approve the utilization of US Communities contract #4400006644 to purchase ruggedized Panasonic MDT laptops for Fire Rescue emergency vehicles from Insight Public Sector, Inc. in the amount of $136,661.25.
Background Information
The Fire Rescue department uses ruggedized laptops in the delivery of their services. These units are mounted in their vehicles, and are integral to the work they do. The laptops are used to direct emergency vehicles along the fastest path to the emergency location, collect and document information about the event, and support patient care activities. These units are built to withstand the rigors of duty that is common with First Responders, including resistance to heat, water and extensive abrupt movement. The existing Fire Rescue MDTs have reached their 5-year lifecycle, and hardware components have begun to fail. There are currently 24 units in Fire Rescue. They would like to replace these units, and purchase six additional units to be used as spares at all of the fire stations. The CID numbers for the existing units are: 9132, 9133, 9134 9135, 9136, 9137, 9138, 9139, 9140, 9141, 9142, 9143, 9144, 9145, 9146, 9147, 9148, 9149, 9150, 9151, 9152, 9153, 9154, and 9155. The use of these rugged laptops are necessary for the continued delivery of excellent service from the Fire Rescue department.
