Background Information
Narramore Park Security
Following a break-in incident at Narramore Softball on October 22, 2020, consensus was noted during the Commission Communications portion of the November 5, 2020 City Commission Special Meeting to “bring back the cost of additional security measures for the girls softball fields at Narramore Sports complex with a budget amendment if needed”. This project was not funded within the FY20-21 budget. Quotes for equipment, installation and connection services have been received indicating that $20,611 will be required to provide coverage for the entire park.
Mural Project
During the City Commission Regular Meeting on December 8, 2020, the City Commission approved having Quality TV being the first location for mural art, utilizing Gulf Coast Foundation funds, accepting First 1000 Days artwork and approving up to $10,000 of City Art Funds to enlarge the mural. The mural will be painted on the large side wall of the Quality TV building located at 14212 Tamiami Trail in North Port. The City Commission also approved having a recognition ceremony for all participants when the mural is complete.
Special Election
The Special Election being held in March is for the election of a City Commissioner due to the vacancy created in December with the resignation of David Iannotti. The estimated cost from the Sarasota Supervisor of Elections is $96,540.
