Background Information

 

The purpose of this proposal was to obtain the services of an experienced, professional, licensed, and qualified architectural/engineering firm to locate and assist in obtaining a site for the Utilities Administration and Warehouse Facility building. Upon securing a site, the firm will design the building and site improvements.   The Utilities Administration, warehouse and storage facility are currently located at 6644 W. Price Boulevard. The facility has served North Port Utilities (NPU) for approximately 20 years. With the significant growth that the City has experienced in recent years, NPU has also grown and now has outgrown the administration building, warehouse and storage area. The new site/building will accommodate not only the current staff but projected interim and buildout conditions. The requested design will include offices for personnel, parking for customers and personnel, an area for fleet vehicles and large equipment, and warehouse space for inventory parts.

 

 

The Site Selection and Design Services for Utilities Administration and Warehouse Facilities project was advertised on February 8, 2018. A non-mandatory pre-proposal meeting was held on February 27, 2018 at City Hall. Three (3) proposals were received before the deadline of March 15, 2018. The professional selection committee met on April 26, 2018 to discuss all three proposals and make a selection based on RFP proposal ranking guidelines. After deliberation and discussion, Stantec Inc. was selected as the most advantageous to the City and recommended staff move forward with negotiations.  Staff negotiations took place on May 17 and June 14, 2018 to review the scope of services and lump sum contract rates which is reflected in this approval request. 

 

Legal has reviewed the agreement and has no legal objection.
