Background Information

At its December 12, 2023 Regular Meeting, the City Commission voted to direct the City Attorney to work with the City Clerk to amend the City Clerk’s employment agreement to reflect an annual evaluation date of no later than November 1, and to bring back creative suggestions for a potential salary increase in the interim.

The City Attorney prepared the draft First Amendment to City Clerk Employment Agreement. The City Clerk reviewed the document and presented no objection or revisions to the language as drafted.

Performance Evaluations - Current Contract

Section 4 of the City Clerk Employment Agreement provides that the City Commission shall individually and collectively review and evaluate the City Clerk annually, no later than March 24.

Performance Evaluations - Proposed Amended Contract

1.                     Midyear Evaluation

If amended as presented, the City Commission shall conduct a one-time, midyear performance evaluation of the City Clerk no later than April 30, 2024. During the April 30, 2024 midyear performance evaluation, the City Commission may consider an adjustment to the City Clerk’s compensation, with consideration to the fact that the City Clerk will undergo a second performance evaluation and potential compensation adjustment later in 2024.
