TITLE: Discussion and possible action regarding Florida League of Cities Legislative Policy Committee Appointments.
Recommended Action
Approve recommendation of appointments for Commissioners, if they desire to serve, to Florida League of Cities Legislative Policy Committees.
Background Information
The Florida Leagues of Cities is announcing the start of its legislative policy process for 2020-2021. The deadline to sign-up is August 17, 2020. FLC legislative policy committee appointment letters will be mailed the week of August 17th. Policy committee meetings will be held in the fall due to the 2021 legislative session convening March 2, 2021. The League is asking for participation on five legislative committees. No more than one elected official from each City can be on a committee.
The Legislative Policy Committees for 2020-2021 are listed below:
• Finance, Taxation & Personnel Committee
• Land Use & Economic Development Committee
• Municipal Administration Committee
• Transportation & Intergovernmental Relations Committee
• Utilities, Natural Resources & Public Works Committee
There are three meeting dates for the 2020-2021 legislative policy committees. They are:
• Friday, September 18, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
• Friday, October 23,2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
• Thursday, November 12, 2020 (time to be announced) during FLC Legislative Conference
The current Commissioners serving are:
• Municipal Administration Committee - Commissioner Carusone
• Land Use & Economic Development Committee - Mayor McDowell
• Transportation & Intergovernmental Relations Committee - Commissioner Emrich
• Utilities, Natural Resources & Public Works Committee - Vice Mayor Luke
• Finance, Taxation & Personnel Committee - City Manager Lear
