Background Information

Sarasota County has awarded the City of North Port $92,473 in Community Development Block Grant funding for the purchase and deployment of a high water vehicle. The vehicle will support fire protection services within the eligible project service area and benefit low- to moderate-income residents.

Previously, the City was awarded $324,000 in CDBG funds for this project.  The grant agreement currently under consideration provides the City an additional $92,473.  The total cost of the high water vehicle is $478,823.  If this agreement is approved, the total grant award will be $416,473.  Additional funds of $62,350 have been allocated in FY27 for the remaining cost to the City.

This is a reimbursable grant, meaning the City will spend the grant funds first and then request reimbursement from the granting agency.

The Grant Contract has been reviewed by the City Attorney and is legally correct to form.
