General Information

 

Chapter 26 - Fire Prevention and Protection, was adopted and last updated on June 18, 1990, through Ordinance No. 90-13. The purpose of this ordinance is twofold;

 

1.                     To update the City’s firesafety regulations for consistency with the Florida Fire Prevention Code, Florida Statutes Chapter 633, and the National Fire Protection Association Fire and Life Safety Codes; and

 

2.                     To effectuate adoption of regulations previously located in Chapter 60 of the Unified Land Development Code (repealed via Ordinance No. 2024-13) that are not related to site development and are therefore more appropriately located in the City Code.

 

The City Attorney has reviewed Ordinance No. 2024-19 for form and correctness.

 

Information for Second Reading

 

The City Commission heard the first reading of Ordinance No. 2024-19 at its Regular Meeting on July 23, 2024, and continued the ordinance as presented to second reading on August 6, 2024.

 

Business Impact Estimate

 

Pursuant to Florida Statutes Section 166.041(4)(c), a business impact estimate was not required because this ordinance is enacted to implement Florida Statutes Section 633.202, relating to the Florida Fire Prevention Code.
