Recommended Action

 

Approve the U.S. Department of the Interior U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Joint Funding Agreement for Water Resource Investigations for Fiscal Year 2025-2026 which provides the Annual Monitoring and Maintenance of a Cooperative Data Collection Program within the City of North Port for precipitation and water levels for a Contract amount of $31,310.00.

 

Background Information

 

The Joint Funding Agreement for Water Resource Investigations provides for the Annual Monitoring and Maintenance of a Data Collection Program within the City of North Port for the following four (4) gages for precipitation and water levels within canals, waterways, and creeks:

ü                     Amount: $13,860.00

The information acquired from the Data Collection Program is utilized to monitor water flow and potential flooding conditions within the City.

 

The total annual operating cost for data collection is $42,610.00. The City of North Port’s share will be $31,310.00, with USGS covering the remaining $11,300.00.

 

The U.S. Department of the Interior U.S. Geological Survey Joint Funding Agreement for Water Resource Investigations for Fiscal Year 2025-2026 has been reviewed by the Interim City Attorney and is legally correct as to form.

Financial Impact

 

Total annual operating cost for this data collection is $42,610.00. As stated in the agreement, USGS directly pays $11,300.00, while the City of North Port pays $31,310.00.

 

Funding in the amount of $31,310.00 is proposed in the Fiscal Year 2026 Road and Drainage District Budget and approval is subject to Fiscal Year 2026 budget adoption in September 2025, account number 107-5000-541.31-10, Professional Services.

 

Procurement

 

This Agreement is in accordance with Chapter 2 Administration, Article VIII Procurement, Section 2-403 - Exemptions (a) (2) Procurement contracts between the City and nonprofit organizations, other governments, or other public entities in accordance with the Code of the City of North Port, Florida.

 

The internal procurement form will be completed following an approval from the City Commission.
