TITLE:                     Discussion and Possible Action to Award Funds from the Special Event Assistance Program to the North Port Area Art Guild, Inc. DBA North Port Art Center (NPAC) to Cover the Costs of City Fees and/or Resources Associated with the December 5, 2020, Artisan’s Winter Market event.

 

 

Recommended Action

 

Consider the request made by the North Port Area Art Guild, Inc. DBA North Port Art Center (NPAC) for funding assistance through the Special Event Assistance Program to cover the cost of City fees and/or resources associated with the December 5, 2020, Artisan’s Winter Market event.

 

Background Information

 

The Special Event Assistance Program Guidelines and application were informally adopted by City Commission on November 25, 2013, and formally adopted by Commission on September 11, 2018, by Resolution 2018-R-17. The intent of the Program is to encourage cultural, educational, environmental and recreational activities in the City and to help provide recovery of costs associated with City services and resources that are needed with a Special Event.

 

North Port Area Art Guild, Inc. DBA North Port Art Center (NPAC) is requesting funding assistance to cover the costs of fees and/or City services associated with their Artisan’s Winter Market event. The event is scheduled to be held on December 5, 2020. The estimated attendance for this event is 100 people per the application submitted. Based on this expected attendance and in accordance with the Special Events Assistance Program Guidelines on page 2, the applicant is eligible for funding up to $500.00.  Accordingly, the applicant has requested Community Assistance in the amount of $440.00 for this event. The total costs for City fees and/or resources is currently being calculated.

Financial Impact

 

Funding in the amount of $6,000.00 is budgeted in the Fiscal Year 2021 budget, account no. 001-0100-511-49-13 for Community Assistance. This application for funding assistance in the amount of $400.00 for this event if approved by Commission, would result in a remaining balance of $5,600.00 in account no. 001-0100-511-49-13.
