Background Information

The City of North Port has applied to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation for AEDs for NPPD patrol vehicles in the amount of $17,000.

The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation’s mission is to impact the lifesaving capabilities, and the lives of local heroes and their communities. This is accomplished by providing lifesaving equipment and prevention education tools to first responders and public safety organizations.

If awarded, funding will be used to purchase approximately 10 AEDs for use in NPPD patrol vehicles. Equipping patrol cars with AEDs enhances officers’ ability to serve as effective first responders and strengthens emergency response capabilities. It allows Police Officers to provide critical care until Fire Rescue or EMS personnel arrive, improving coordination among emergency services and reinforcing the department’s commitment to protecting the health and safety of the community.

If awarded, the Grant Contract will be reviewed by the City Attorney to ensure that it is legally correct as to form.

Strategic Plan

Safe Community

Financial Impact

If awarded, the purchase would be made by the Foundation on behalf of the City.

Procurement

If awarded, all relevant procurement codes, policies and procedures will be followed when purchases are made.
