Background Information
This new ordinance prohibits certain conduct at City facilities and city parks by amending the City Code of North Port and by creating section 46-1 “City Facilities Rules” and repealing section 50-2 “Park Property.” It is the desire to promote behavior at City facilities that supports the vision of the City of North Port, the proper use of its facilities by the public, the protection and preservation of City facilities, and the health and safety of visitors and employees at City facilities.
Background Information for the Second Reading
On January 12, 2021, the City Commission continued Ordinance No 2021-01 to the second reading, with the following changes:
- 46-1(a)(4) - additional language was added based on repealed sec 50-1, to include things not covered by a general reference to “natural resources” under the dictionary definition.
- 46-1(a)(5) - added this subsection to satisfy concerns over treatment of animals and their habitat.
- 46-1(d) - the reference to unlawfully stored property section has been corrected.
