TITLE:                     Approve the Reciprocal License Agreement Between the North Port Area Chamber of Commerce, Inc. and the City of North Port, Florida.

 

 

Recommended Action

 

Approve the Reciprocal License Agreement between the North Port Area Chamber of Commerce, Inc. and the City of North Port, Florida.

 

Background Information

 

The following provides a chronological order of events regarding the Reciprocal License Agreement between the North Port Area Chamber of Commerce, Inc. and the City of North Port, Florida:

 

Ø                     September 30, 2018:  The prior Contract between the North Port Area Chamber of Commerce, Inc. and the City of North Port, Florida, expired and was not extended. The Chamber of Commerce wished to enter into another Contract with the City of North Port.

 

Ø                     October 26, 2021: During the City Commission Regular Meeting, the following items were discussed pertinent to the Reciprocal License Agreement between the North Port Area Chamber of Commerce, Inc. and the City of North Port, Florida:

 

ü                     Extending the term limit of the Contract from one year to three years.

 

ü                     Utilizing the Chamber of Commerce building as either a Welcome Center for the City or strictly for Chamber members.

 

ü                     Removing the Cocoplum Paddle-a-Thon and Firecracker 5k from Sponsorship Terms and adding the Easter Egg Hunt event.

 

At the conclusion of the discussion, a motion was made to direct staff to draft and bring back for Commission approval, a partnership Contract with the Chamber of Commerce for use of logos in advertising and promotions, taking Commission discussion into consideration.

 

Ø                     January 2022: The Contract has been updated to reflect the current signature events and to align with the Parks and Recreation Department’s current Sponsorship Program.

 

The Reciprocal License Agreement between the North Port Area Chamber of Commerce, Inc. and the City of North Port, Florida, has been reviewed by the City Attorney and is legally correct as to form.
