Background Information
The City of Punta Gorda issued a competitive solicitation for the sale of one (1) 2022 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Police 114 motorcycle after determining the asset was no longer needed due to the disbandment of its motorcycle unit. The purpose of the solicitation was to facilitate the transparent and compliant transfer of the motorcycle to another law enforcement agency and ensure the equipment continues to support public safety operations.
On May 18, 2026, representatives from the North Port Police Department conducted an inspection of the motorcycle and found it to be in excellent condition. The motorcycle currently has approximately 942 miles on it and is fully equipped with law enforcement equipment, including emergency lighting, siren, radar equipment, thermal printer, and storage components. The City’s Fleet Division personnel also inspected the motorcycle on May 26, 2026, and confirmed it is in excellent overall condition.
The motorcycle is patrol-ready and would require only the replacement of existing Punta Gorda Police Department graphics with North Port Police Department graphics to meet departmental standards. Acquiring this motorcycle provides the Police Department with an opportunity to obtain a low-mileage, fully equipped law enforcement vehicle at a cost significantly lower than purchasing a new motorcycle and associated equipment.
On May 30, 2026, the North Port Police Department submitted the highest responsive bid in the amount of $18,500.00. A Notice of Intent to Award was received on June 1, 2026.
